Nightstop North East

This Nightstop scheme run by Depaul UK provides emergency accommodation in the homes of local volunteers for young people aged 16-25 on a night by night basis.  The scheme has volunteers across the North East and each volunteer provides a private bedroom, an evening meal and breakfast, washing facilities and toiletries.

Nightstop staff assist the young person to find a longer term solution to their housing need and to address any other issues they may have.  This could involve referring a young person to housing providers and specialist services, as well as providing day to day support whilst they are using the service.  Young people can also be assisted to return home if appropriate.

Nightstop North East is supported by Northern Rock Foundation.

The Nightstop North East service in Durham County will accommodate, in addition to 16-25 year olds, those over 25 who are vulnerable.  Referrals for the County Durham Service are made directly to:  Jackie Hall on 07850515204 or jackie.hall@depauluk.org.  Durham Nightstop is funded by Durham County Council.
