Need Help or Advice?

To receive help and support from Depaul UK you will need to be referred by your local council or other organisation. We unfortunately can not accept young people directly into our hostel accommodation. Below is a list of contact details for organisations and help lines that will be able to talk to you directly and refer you onto Depaul UK or whoever can help you best.

  • Get Connected A free, confidential helpline that gives young people in difficult situations the support and information they need to decide what they want to happen next. It could be anything from a listening ear to somewhere safe to stay for the night. Call the free confidential helpline on 0808 808 4994
  • www.homelessuk.org Website providing information on over 9,000 services, including hostels, day centres and other advice and support services for homeless people.
  • Thesite.org Run by Youth Net, this website is an online resource for young people covering a range of issues that affect their everyday life. It has fact sheets and information, online forums and contact details for experts who can help.
  • Thesite.org/selfharm An online information and support centre for all 16 to 25-year-olds affected by self-harm. The site has articles, videos, podcasts, moderated chats, discussion boards, and an expert question and answer service.
  • YoungMinds - Parent Helpline YoungMinds provides a telephone helpline service to parents with a concern about their child's emotional problems or behaviour. If you're a worried parent, call us at the YoungMinds Parents Helpline on 0808 802 5544. Our opening hours are 9.30am-4pm Monday to Friday. Calls from landlines and mobiles are free.
  • Shelter - Advice for young people Shelter offer advice and guidance for people of all ages, with a dedicated section on their website for young people. Whether you need emergency help and accommodation or need advice on rent re-payments and landlords, this service should be able to help. Emergency Helpline 0808 800 4444.
  • Samaritans Samaritans is available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.
  • Childline ChildLine is the free 24-hour helpline for children and young people in the UK. Call for free confidential advice on 0800 1111.
  • Citizens Advice The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free information and advice from 3,300 locations.
  • advice4me.org.uk   A self help website that provides advice on debt, benefits, employment and housing.  There is also a self help guide that helps you understand what you are entitled to.
  • Connexions This service is for you if you are 13-19, living in England and need advice on getting to where you want to be in life. It also provides support up to the age of 25 for young people who have learning difficulties or disabilities (or both).
  • Drink Line A free and confidential helpline that offers advice for those suffering from alcohol dependancy issues. The helpline suggests a number of self help materials and also offers support to family and friends of those who have a problem with drink. Call 0800 917 8282, 9am - 11pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Drugs Helpline  Frank is a national confidential drugs helpline and website. Log on to ask any questions that you may have about drugs, or give them a call if you need help or advice on your drug use. Call free on 0800 77 66 00.
